Harley-Davidson has released images of two new concept EVs on its US website, showcasing its readiness for future urban mobility.
The first concept previews Harley-Davidson’s take on a lightweight urban two-wheeler, built to tackle the challenges of commuting in a big city. Called the lightweight EV concept, Harley says that bike is designed for the urban future. The design certainly looks interesting: it’s got a bicycle style frame, complete with a double downtube cradle that houses an enclosed battery and motor. The U-shaped handlebar also appears to e like those found on a conventional bicycle, with the front and rear brakes situated on the bar itself. The front suspension fork looks similar to what you see on motorcycles but surprisingly, there’s no rear monoshock. The wire-spoke wheels and tyres are beefy and overall, this concept seems like a cross between a bicycle and an electric motorcycle.
Speaking of which, the second electric concept that was shown looks like a conventional motorcycle that has been inspired by the Harley-Davidson XR750 flat-tracker. Called the middleweight EV concept, it looks every bit like a flat-tracker, replete with a long fuel tank, flat and narrow seats, a tapered handlebar and exposed wheels. Harley-Davidson says the middleweight EV can multi-task as the ‘ultimate city bike, a high-performance runabout or a next-generation short-tracker’. It definitely looks like a fun electric motorcycle and going by our ride experience of the Harley-Davidson Livewire this new concept looks promising.
Harley-Davidson has not revealed launch timelines and specifications of these concepts but expect more information to be revealed over the course of the next few months.
