Honda has launched the BS6-compliant version of the most popular two-wheeler in India, the 110cc Activa. Called the Activa 6G, the scooter is available in a standard variant priced at Rs 63,912 and a Deluxe variant priced at Rs 65,412. (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Activa 6G costs over Rs 7,500 over its corresponding BS4 compliant Activa 5G model.
Honda is yet to update its website with official information, but an online document revealed that the transition to the stricter emission norms has brought it with some notable changes to the engine. The single-cylinder motor on the BS6 model is 109.51cc compared to the 109.19cc motor on the BS4-spec scooter, and is now fuel injected unlike the carbureted BS4 model. Despite the slightly larger engine, the power figure has still seen a slight drop on the Activa 6G - down from 7.96hp at 7,500rpm to 7.79hp at 8,000rpm. The Activa 6G also gets a ‘Silent Start’ system, a feature we’ve recently seen on the new Activa 125 BS6. Honda also claims that the new Activa 6G is 10 percent more fuel-efficient.
Other significant updates on the Activa 6G include the addition of a telescopic fork and the use of a larger 12-inch front wheel in place of the 10-inch wheel on the the Activa 5G. The pass light switch and external fuel filler cap that can be opened via a switch near the keyhole are a couple other features that have made their way down to the smaller Activa from the Activa 125.
The Activa 6G is the second BS6-compliant 110cc scooter to launch in our market after the TVS Jupiter, joining a list of 125cc and above scooters that have made the switch to the more stringent emission norms. The Activa is the highest selling scooter in our country and we’ll have to wait a couple weeks to see what else this updated iteration has in store for us.
