The 2020 Auto Expo was already looking dull for two-wheeler enthusiasts and now we’ve got information that Italian scooter major Lambretta will not participate in the biennial event. This is surprising, considering the company was supposed to display its range at Auto Expo 2020, as we’d reported earlier.
There were reports of Lambretta displaying an electric scooter as well. Called the G-special electric scooter, it was set to mark Lambretta’s return to the Indian market.
The electric Lambretta for India was not the only major news announced in 2018. Innocenti, Lambretta International's parent company, also reported that it was looking at setting up an assembly plant in or around Mumbai. According to the company, the plant will provide the Indian market with 'original Lambretta products' and operate as a production hub for surrounding countries, including Africa.
We have reached out to Lambretta and are waiting to know the reasons behind the brand pulling out of the Expo, as well as their future plans for India. We will keep this story updated as and when we get more information.
