Honda has announced a voluntary recall for three of its scooter models – the Dio, the Activa 125 and the 6G – manufactured from February 14-25, 2020. The company, however, has not specified the number of units impacted in this recall.
Honda says it has identified “a suspected quality issue in the rear cushion which may result in oil leakage or breakage and may lead to vehicle imbalance.” While Honda hasn’t given any details apart from that rather vague description, we believe it is the rear shock absorber that’s affected. We will update this story as soon as we get more information on the same.
The recall campaign will start in mid-March 2020, as a precautionary measure, to check and replace the suspected part. The concerned part, if in the defective lot, will be replaced free of cost, irrespective of warranty status of the identified vehicle.
This is the second time the BS6 Activa 125 has been recalled since its launch, with the first time being for an oil gauge and cooling fan cover issue.
