BS6 TVS Apache RTR 180 launched at Rs 1.01 lakh

TVS has listed prices for the BS6 Apache RTR 180 on its website, which at Rs 1.01 lakh, is Rs 6,700 more expensive than the outgoing BS4 model. This also means it is Rs 7,500 more than the recently updated BS6 Apache RTR 160

TVS has also launched its BS6-compliant Apache RTR 160 4V which costs Rs 1.01 lakh (drum brake variant) and Rs 1.04 lakh (disc brake variant).

The last update to the RTR 180 was back in late 2018, and this included the addition of a new colour scheme, different seat material, white back-lit speedometer and a redesigned crash guard. While we haven’t seen the updated bike yet, we expect it to receive no significant changes in design.

We’re also waiting for official information on how the update to BS6 has affected the peak output figures of the 177.4cc, two-valve, air-cooled engine. In its current form, it produces 16.6hp at 8,500rpm and 15.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. While most bikes seem to be losing power and torque, TVS managed to bump up peak output figures on the recently launched BS6 Apache RTR 160 and if it’s managed to do the same with the RTR 180, it’s certainly something to be excited about.

It’s also likely that the RTR 180 will remain mechanically identical to the outgoing version that uses petal disc brakes (270mm front/200mm rear) that work alongside a single-channel ABS system. It will also continue to feature a double cradle frame, telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers.

The Apache has always seemed like a great value for money offering and is one of the most complete motorcycles at its price point. The updated bike will continue to take the fight to the Suzuki Gixxer - which notably costs more at Rs 1.12 lakh - and the Yamaha FZ V3.0.
