Pierer Mobility – parent company of KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas – has just announced the implementation of a two-week company vacation at its Mattighofen plant in Austria from March 30 to April 10. This has probably the result of an interruption of components supply due to the complete shutdown in northern Italy.
Sources inform us that India may be affected, as some components for KTM and new Husqvarna models do come from that region. As things stand, there is some stock ready in India, but if the shutdown continues unabated, we may see supply issues for some 390 and 250 models. The 390 Adventure's fuel tank supposedly comes from Italy, as do the ECUs for the 390 and 250 models. As we understand it, supply for these models from both, KTM and Husqvarna, may soon be limited and only the 125cc and 200cc models will not be affected.
Pierer Mobility says that these measures are being put in place to avoid uncontrolled business interruptions and it maintains that there will not be an impact on distribution and supply of spare parts worldwide. The release goes on to say that the availability of all models is guaranteed for the ‘upcoming start of the season’ in the worldwide dealer network.
Have you tried booking a KTM or Husqvarna model from the 250 or 390 family range and been told that there will be a delay in delivery? Let us know in the comments section.
