Hero has updated its website with the 2020 BS6 Xpulse 200 and has listed all of the details and the specifications of the updated motorcycle that it first showcased in February 2020. At the time, we knew that the motorcycle was using fuel-injection, a new oil-cooler and a rerouted exhaust, but we now know how these changes have affected the performance.
As expected, the BS6-compliant 199.6cc engine has lost out on power figures because of the more restrictive exhaust set-up. It now produces 17.8hp at 8,500rpm and 16.4Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, in comparison, the BS4-compliant model made 18.4hp at 8,000rpm and 17.1Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. While the BS4 model was available with either a carburettor or fuel-injection, the 2020 Xpulse can only be had with the latter.
The header pipe now doesn’t run next to the engine, like it did on the Impulse and the 2019 XPulse. It’s now directed downwards to go under the engine and back up to the muffler, which continues to remain in the same place. We expected this change to lower the ground clearance as the belly-pan has been redesigned to make room for the exhaust piping, but according to the website the ground clearance remains unchanged, at 220mm.
All these changes have resulted in the Xpulse becoming slightly heavier than before and it now has a kerb weight of 157kg, compared to the BS4 model’s 154kg figure.
We are yet to hear from Hero about the price of the 2020 Xpulse 200. For reference, the BS4 Xpulse 200 was priced at Rs 99,500 (carb) and Rs 1,07,500 (fuel-injected) (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
