New design

The Honda Hornet 2.0 marks the company's entry into the 180cc-200cc segment. The motorcycle is based on the Honda CB190R, that's on sale in international markets. That said, Honda India has worked upon the styling to distinguish the Hornet 2.0 from the CB190R. The most apparent changes have been done to the headlamp, taillight and the body panels.

Equipment

The Honda Hornet 2.0 boasts of an all-LED lamp setup. The motorcycle also has a reverse LCD instrument cluster that also features a gear position indicator, service due indicator and battery voltmeter.

Rounding off the list of equipment is a hazard lamp switch and sealed chain, that Honda claims requires less maintenance.

Chassis and suspension

Under the muscular looking body work, is a new diamond frame that is said to offer good agility and feedback around the corners. The company has also managed to keep the kerb weight quite low, at 142kg.

The Honda Hornet 2.0 is also the first motorcycle in the segment to feature a USD fork that's finished in a rather interesting gold colour. At the rear, there is a preload adjustable monoshock.

The bike rides on new alloy wheels, shod with a 110mm tyre at the front and a 140mm tyre at the rear.

As far as the brakes are concerned, the bike has a 276mm front petal disc and 220mm petal disc at the rear. In the interest of saving costs, the Hornet 2.0 gets a single-channel ABS only.

Engine

The Hornet 2.0 is powered by a 184.4cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that develops 17.2hp at 8,500rpm and 16.1Nm at 6,000rpm. It has a power to weight ratio of 121.12hp per tonne.

Competition

The Honda Hornet 2.0 goes up against the TVS Apache RTR 200, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and Hero Xtreme 200R
