BS6 Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT launched in India at Rs 8.84 lakh

The V-Strom 650 XT is Suzuki’s first BS6 big bike to go on sale in India.

  • Gets no mechanical changes aside from the cleaner emissions

  • No visual differences to the BS4 model

  • Now costs Rs 1.38 lakh more than the BS4 model

Suzuki has launched the BS6 version of its highly rated V-Strom 650 XT at a price of Rs 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom). This is a steep hike over the BS4 model that was priced at Rs 7.46 lakh, ex-showroom.

Despite the rise in price, the V-Strom 650 XT doesn’t have anything new to offer to the rider. The 649cc 90-degree V-twin motor is now emissions compliant, but the V-Strom 650 otherwise offers the same features and design as before. The bike continues with an LCD instrument console and a halogen headlamp. Other features include dual-channel ABS and a 3-level traction control system (2 levels + off).

The BS6 V-Strom 650 is available in two colours, Champion Yellow No. 2 and Glacier White. In terms of competition, its direct rival, the BS6 Kawasaki Versys 650, is priced at Rs 6.79 lakh. However, at its new price, the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT is now sandwiched between the smaller Versys 650 and the four cylinder Versys 1000 which costs Rs 10.99 lakh and is already available with discounts at Kawasaki dealerships.
