The TVS Motor Company has registered two new names, Raider and Retron, which appear to be for its future products. This comes days after TVS registered the Fiero and TVS Zepplin R with the concerned trademark department.

TVS Raider to pay homage to the Dakar team?
TVS has registered the 'Raider' name under different classes of two-wheelers. There's the TVS Raider, Raider 125 and the TVS XL Raider. The 125 suffix is interesting as it could mean that TVS may be developing a new 125cc motorcycle. The company has been missing in the 125cc commuter motorcycle space in the BS6 era, a segment that's been witnessing plenty of action.
The other speculation is that TVS may be coming up with a motorcycle and the XL moped in its Dakar team colours, a way to pay homage to its achievements at the Rally.
TVS' new motorcycle or electric scooter to be christened the Retron?
By registering the Retron name, it is hard for many to not link the name to the Creon concept electric scooter that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. It looks far sportier than the TVS i-Qube and the specs indicate more performance as well.
The Creon's spec sheet highlights a 12kW electric motor powered by three lithium-ion batteries, which lend it an impressive performance. TVS claims the Creon can go from 0 to 60kph in 5.1sec and has a range of 80km.
The Creon also offers a rapid charging option, which facilitates 80 percent charge in just 60min. The batteries have been designed to ensure high charge per unit volume, and the motor is laid out in a compact manner as well.
Could this be TVS' answer to the other sporty electric scooter in the market, the Ather 450X? Only time will tell.
Another speculation that crops up is whether TVS is working on a retro-themed, low-capacity motorcycle that it plans to call Retron.
At present, there is no clear idea as to which product will carry the name. That said, it'll be interesting to see what the Hosur-based manufacturer comes up with in the future.
