Last year, Benelli launched its first retro-styled motorcycle in India at a competitive price of Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Imperiale is Benelli’s bid to rival the very popular Royal Enfield Classic 350, and at that price point, it definitely did. Now, the introductory offer period has ended and the bike maker has increased costs of the Imperiale 400 by Rs 10,000. The Imperiale 400 in its silver colour scheme now costs Rs 1.79 lakh, while the black colour scheme costs an additional Rs 10,000 at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
We’ve ridden the Imperiale 400 extensively, and you can read our full review here, and you can also see how it stacks up against its most direct rivals – the Classic 350 and the Jawa Forty Two here.
The Imperiale 400 is powered by a 374cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes 21hp and 29Nm, and happens to be one of the nicest bikes we’ve ridden in this segment.
The BS6 Royal Enfield Classic 350 was recently launched and it witnessed a price hike of about Rs 11,000, and it now costs Rs 1.65 lakh. It remains to be seen how much the prices of the Imperiale will go up with its move to BS6.
