2020 BS6 Honda Dio teased with refreshed styling

Honda has released a teaser video for the upcoming BS6-compliant Honda Dio. While this teaser doesn’t reveal any mechanical details, it does give us a good understanding of what the scooter is going to look like upon launch. Its DX badging also reassures the fact that the new scooter will continue to be available in at least two variants.

The first thing that the teaser brings to light is, well, the lights. The BS6-compliant Dio will continue with its LED DRL being located near the handlebar, but its conventional halogen-powered headlight will be replaced with an LED one on the new model. Moving on, the body panels on the scooter look aggressive and there’s also use of faux carbon fibre – similar to what we’ve seen on the TVS Ntorq 125.

Another shot in the teaser video reveals the scooter being shown to us as a DX variant. This means that there will most likely be a lower-spec variant that may miss out on the LED headlight and a disc brake. We’ve seen Honda do this with its BS6-compliant Activa 6G. Speaking of the 6G, it’s also the scooter that the Dio will share many of its mechanical components with.

For reference, the 109.51cc single-cylinder motor on the BS6 Activa is now fuel-injected and makes 7.79hp at 8,000rpm and 8.79Nm at 5,250rpm. The Activa 6G also gets a ‘Silent Start’ system, which we are quite sure will make its way to the BS6 Dio too. We also expect the scooter to use a telescopic fork for suspension, just like the Activa 6G.

Regarding price, the BS4 Honda Dio currently costs Rs 54,241 (STD) and Rs 56,241 (DLX). The BS6 model though, will cost around Rs 7,500 more, as that’s the hike the Honda Activa 6G witnessed.
